......Getting to Brighton......Getting to Grand Parade......Maps

Brighton is situated in East Sussex, in the South East of England. Brighton is 90km South from London.

Travel links are excellent. The M25/M23 motorway link provides easy road access to London and the rest of the country, whilst mainland Europe is a short journey by air, train or ship from various departure points.

Train journey times
  • 50 minutes from Brighton to London
  • 30 minutes from Brighton to London Gatwick Airport

**GETTING TO BRIGHTON**

By rail   ---- book tickets at www.thetrainline.com (tickets may be collected at the station) ---
  • From London Victoria: South Central trains run to Brighton throughout the day. Journey times range from 50 minutes to a maximum of 1h30.
  • From London Bridge: Thameslink trains start in Hertfordshire and pass through the city of London and down to Brighton. Journey time averages 50 minutes from London Bridge.
  • From Gatwick Airport: Gatwick is the closest airport to Brighton, and direct trains run regularly between the airport and Brighton. Journey time averages 35 minutes.
  • From Heathrow Airport: A train journey from Heathrow to Brighton can take up to two hours, and a number of changes. You will need to take a train into London, and get on the tube to Victoria station or London Bridge, before taking a train down to Brighton from there.
  • From East and West: South Central trains run along the South coast and link Brighton with Hove, Worthing and Portsmouth to the West and Lewes, Eastbourne and Hastings to the East.
By coach   --- book tickets at www.nationalexpress.com ---
  • From London Victoria (also called London Central): National Express coaches depart for Brighton from London Victoria coach station 19 times a day. Journey time takes 2h10 on a direct coach.
  • From Gatwick Airport: National Express coaches depart every half an hour from Gatwick. Journey time takes 45 minutes.
  • From Heathrow Airport: There is one direct coach every hour between Heathrow and Brighton. Journey time takes between 2-3 hours. The coach departs from Heathrow Central Bus Station, and also from Terminal 4.
By air
  • Gatwick international airport is half an hour by road and rail from Brighton. The M23 connects Gatwick to Brighton and the London-Brighton rail link passes through the airport which has its own station. Rail is the best means of reaching Brighton from Gatwick (30 minutes journey).
  • Heathrow international airport is on the M25 which connects with the M23 at junction 7. There is a direct coach link to Gatwick or you can take the underground from Heathrow to London Victoria. The coach is as fast as the train and operates a direct service. It is also cheaper.
By road
  • From London: the M25/23 link provides road access from London and the rest of the country.
  • From East and West: the A27 and the A259 provide access to Brighton. The A259 runs along Brighton seafront.

**GETTING TO GRAND PARADE**

The Grand Parade campus is situated in the centre of Brighton on Grand Parade, almost opposite the Royal Pavilion - about 5 minutes walk from the beach. Please consult the maps below to locate the building. The site is easily accessible on foot, bike and public transport. Car parking in the area is limited.

On foot
From Brighton railway station: turn left down Trafalgar Street. At the bottom of Trafalgar Street turn right onto Grand Parade. Cross to the other side of Grand Parade and keep walking towards the sea. The university's Grand Parade building is on the left.
By bike
The city centre cycle lane network provides easy access to the Grand Parade site. Sheffield stands are provided at the rear of the Grand Parade, off William Street. There is a cycle cage in front of the Circus Street Annexe, accessed via Kingswood Street.
By bus
Grand Parade's central location places it at the heart of the Brighton and Hove bus network and makes it easy to reach the site from any area of the city. Visit the Brighton and Hove Company website for timetables and more on special ticket deals for students.
By car
From the A23 or A27: Follow signs for the city centre and seafront. As you enter the city, a one-way system will lead you towards the sea via Grand Parade. The university's Grand Parade building is on the left, almost opposite the Royal Pavilion. Due to the site's central location, car parking is extremely limited. There are a number of clearly sign-posted NCP car parks located nearby.
