Submissions

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically.  

  1. BulletPlease e-mail attached files with Subject Header “Submission for Language & Cognition” to: submissions@languageandcognition.net

  2. BulletPlease include your name, full contact details, the title of your paper AND the abstract in the main body of your e-mail message.

  3. BulletDo include your name and affiliation below the paper title in the running text of the manuscript – that is, there is no need to make submissions anonymous.

  4. BulletIf your manuscript uses fonts with non-Roman script, it is best to use a Unicode font to ensure readability. Alternatively, submit your manuscript as a PDF file.

  5. BulletContributions should be in English, and should deploy the spelling and punctuation conventions of either British or American English.

  6. BulletContributors whose native language is not English are requested to have their article carefully checked by a native speaker prior to submission.

Manuscript format

Language and Cognition does not require that authors conform to a specific format when submitting articles for review. However, please observe the following conventions:

  1. BulletInclude an abstract of 200 words or less placed before the main body of the text followed by 3-10 keywords.

  2. BulletThe entire text should be double spaced, with ample margins, and the pages should be numbered.

  3. BulletPlace figures, graphs and tables etc. at the appropriate point within the running text.

  4. BulletSubmit the manuscript as a single file, rather than sending references, figures etc., as separate files.

Manuscripts that are accepted for publication will need to conform to the style guide, available for download here.


Manuscript length

There is no specific limit for article length. Please be advised, however, that reviewers will be instructed to pay careful attention to length-to-content ratios. Succinct articles are encouraged.
